Membership Information
We welcome new members with a kindred interest in the Basset Hound. Membership is open to all who are in good standing with the American Kennel Club and who
concur with the purposes of the Basset Hound Club of Greater Seattle and adhere to the Club's Code of Ethics
The membership meets monthly on the third Thursday of each month. The dues are currently $5.00 for a Junior Membership, $10.00 for a Single Membership, $15.00 for
a Family Membership and $10.00 for an Associate (non-voting) Membership
Code of Ethics of the Basset Hound Club of Greater Seattle, Inc.
- To Promote the Welfare and Quality of the Basset Hound
- To conduct myself and activities in such a manner as to benefit the Basset Hound and the Basset Hound Club of Greater Seattle and to in no way interfere with the quality of the breed or the functioning of the club.
- To study, to inquire, to learn and familiarize myself with all available information on the breed as to type, conformation, proper care of the bitch and litter and to ascertain the quality of the stock is sufficiently good before planning a breeding.
- To properly care for any pups whelped, to see that they are well nourished, treated for parasites, inoculated against diseases, and kept until a minimum of eight weeks before being offered for sale.
- That purchasers be interviewed to determine their attitude and genuine interest in the dog and that sales of pups to purchasers who have a monetary motive be frowned upon.
- To appraise quality of puppies honestly and to advertise candidly. To sell puppies only at the prevailing prices for quality breeding. To accompany all sales with proper registration papers; four generation pedigree and written information on shots, worming, and feeding program.
- To refrain from selling stock to brokers, pet shops, or through any strictly commercial establishment. To not offer any pups as prizes for any raffle, contest, door prize, etc.
- To not use membership in club as an endorsement in sales or breeding activities.
- To honestly enter breeding for the betterment of the breed and not for monetary gain.
- To enter into club activities with a sportsmanlike attitude. To engage in and cooperate in as many of the club's activities as possible.
